Navigating Medicare: Meet NACO Central District Representative Kori Ostendorf

Kori Ostendorf – NACO Central District

NACO Central District representative Kori Ostendorf began her insurance career in 2019 while working full-time as a hairstylist. She said that the motivation to pursue the new endeavor came after a family member had issues with their prescription drug plan, and she recognized the demand for reliable insurance resources in the community.

“I’m passionate about helping people find the right Medicare plan and ensuring their journey is as smooth as possible. It’s honestly fascinating how much Medicare and hairstyling have in common. Sure, everyone deals with them, but each person’s experience is unique and comes with its own set of challenges -- whether that’s choosing the right Medicare plan or the perfect haircut.”

A Dawson County native who has since settled down in Lincoln, Kori said she’s grateful to be able to serve the community she grew up in.

“I truly can't think of a more impactful way to support not only our county officials but the entire community than providing reliable, trustworthy guidance on Medicare. The insurance landscape is constantly evolving and often met with skepticism. Unfortunately, there are predatory agents out there, which is why NACO's commitment to connecting Nebraskans with ethical, knowledgeable professionals is so significant.  We are not just agents, we're advocates. This initiative could very well be one of the most economically, personally, and emotionally beneficial efforts NACO has ever undertaken.”

Kori earned a degree in Human Resources with a focus on Textiles, Clothing, and Design from the University of Nebraska. She launched a successful hairstyling career that took her from Omaha to Boston and eventually to Denver, where she opened her own salon.

In 2016, she and her husband returned to Nebraska to raise their son. Since then, she has rebuilt her hair business and embraced a dual career.

“These days, you’ll find me spending countless hours cheering on my son at his baseball games. I feel incredibly blessed to have two fulfilling careers, an amazing family, and the opportunity to help people every day.”
