As Nebraska counties consider how opioid settlement funds may best support their communities, the settlement provides a broad range of eligible uses focused on prevention, treatment, recovery and reducing the impacts of opioid use.
Examples include expanding access to treatment and recovery services, supporting medication-assisted treatment, naloxone distribution and overdose prevention, prevention and education programs, services for justice-involved individuals, support for pregnant and parenting women, and programs that help connect individuals with care. The approved uses also include opportunities for planning, coordination, training, data collection, and evaluation.
Each county’s needs and available resources may look different. As local discussions continue, counties may find it helpful to review the full list of eligible strategies and consider how settlement funds could complement existing programs, address service gaps, or support partnerships in their communities.
